Cancellations

In case of bad weather or road conditions, please call the Studio (821-0500) for a personal or recorded message.  Lesson cancellations due to bad weather may be rescheduled when possible and based upon individual class requirements.

Vacations and Holidays

The Studio will be closed for a Christmas vacation and certain holidays.  You will be advised in advance.  (Please read newsletters and notes sent home, as well as posted notices.)  We do not run our classes with the Public School System holiday or vacation schedule!  (Note that observed holidays are re-scheduled when necessary to fulfill our 40-session year.)

Dress Code

All students in dance and gymnastics must wear appropriate apparel and footwear.  (Do not come into class with bare feet!)  The dress code for ballet classes is traditional black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers.  For other dance classes and gymnastics, students have their choice of leotard colors.  Shoes may vary; check before buying or you may have to buy a new pair before the recital.  Shoes that are worn outside may not be worn inside the studios or gym.  Shirts and pants may be worn over leotards for class warm-ups or Hip Hop.  Shorts may be worn over leotards for gymnastics.  Jewelry is not allowed because it is inappropriate and could be dangerous.  Please also note that we cannot be responsible for jewelry or clothes left here.  Long hair must be neatly tied for all classes.  **See Patty in our Dance & Sports Shop for help with your shopping.  She knows our dress code requirements for leotards and footwear, and she can advise you on your purchases.--And--everything is always discounted in the Dance & Sports Shop!

Class Code

Please be punctual, respectful of your teachers and fellow students, and anxious to learn.  NO GUM, FOOD, or BEVERAGE ALLOWED IN DANCE STUDIOS OR GYM, with the exception of water bottles.

Parent-Center Communication

We distribute newsletters to inform students and parents of studio activities and current news.  Please be sure to read them to keep informed and save them for future reference.  (Check students' dance bags for newsletters and other notes.  Students sometimes forget to give them to parents!)  Also, be sure to check our Bulletin Boards regularly for information and updates!  We may also communicate through e-mail.  (Be sure to give us your e-mail address.)

Exhibitions, Competitions, Stage Performances

At the end of the season (June) we present our annual dance recital, in which all dance students participate.  All gymnastics students participate in our year-end gymnastics exhibition, also in June.  The opportunity to perform before an audience is a valuable experience, and the recital and exhibition are the crowning achievements after a year's serious study.  Invitations are extended to join our dance companies and gymnastics teams, based on ability and attitude, and competitions are held throughout the season.
